2020 Festival VI

Exquisite corpse, also known as exquisite cadaver or rotating corpse, is a method by which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled. The game gained popularity in artistic circles during the 1920s, when it was adopted as a technique by artists of the Surrealist movement. You may have played this game before, where someone draws the head, they pass to another, they draw the torso and then the last person draws the legs.

For our version of Exquisite Corpse a collection of writings will be gathered as one person writes something, passes it to another YF artist, who in turn responds and passes it along to someone else.

Our first participating artist is Eleanor Kipping.

This writing is an attempt to consider both in the context of performance and is an exploration of the role that sacrifice plays in durational performance.
